Whatever your size or shape….Fashionality can help assemble a tailored wardrobe for you!
Your individual body type determines how you should choose your clothes. The average woman is 5’4”, 164 pounds, and a size 14, so it’s not always about size it’s about fit! Also, during the weight loss phase, it can be challenging to find the right clothes to fit your changing shape. A month ago, I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jessica Lukas. She had lost 20 lbs. and was looking to put some style back into her wardrobe, but also learn what garments fit her body shape.
The first step was my closet consultation where I went through her wardrobe to discover what she had and to build from what she already owns. Having a fresh pair of eyes looking at her clothes I was able to pull together outfits and some accessories that she hadn’t tried before. We were also able to recognize her “keepers” and let go of what didn’t fit along with what was no longer her style preference.
The second step was to put the outfits together from her current wardrobe but to also suggest types of garments that fit her shape. For example, wrap tops or V-necks blouses are perfect for her shape because it shows a triangle of skin at the chest; mimicking an angle which will create a waist. Jeans can be challenging too, but I recommended a straight leg that would elongate her body and make her look slimmer. I also made a list of suggested items to purchase that she needed to complete her wardrobe, but also to replace her clothes that were too lose fitting.
Finally, it was time to do some personal shopping that is everybody’s favorite time! We had our shopping list in hand and ready to add some new and fresh pieces to her wardrobe. As a personal stylist, I’m also a personal shopper (PS), where I’m the liaison between you and your closet. One of my jobs is to make the connection between you and your wardrobe by identifying trends, gauging fit, and developing overall looks that will make you feel confident and comfortable. Finding her the perfect jean was my goal, as I wanted her to understand quality and the right “brand” that fits her perfectly! She fell in love with the Ralph Lauren Curvy Straight jean that gave her the confidence she needed in a jean. During our adventure we learned that she was a petite in certain garments, like slacks and blazers.
In the end, she was happy with her new clothes and that she learned how quality and fit are so important. My goal is to give my clients the proper tools so they understand which silhouettes, colors, quality and styles work best on them and where to shop for them.
